Description:
Perfect Art Deco building that has been use as a Public Library since it was completed in 1939. Some of the articles that describe this building states it was a very popular building to visit from the start since it was the first building in the city that had air condition installed. This two story interior has ornate art deco wood work with detail wood work especially on the circulation desk, and ceiling. There is six fluted pilasters on the east side of the building that emphasize the vertical metal panel over the entrance that has “DEDICATED TO THE ENLIGHTENMENT OF ALL PEOPLE THAT DEMOCRACY MAY BE PERPETUATED-1939” in raised metal letters.
