Description:

This school has two rooms and is a single-story, rectangular (30′ x 45′) structure constructed of cut, coursed, and rusticated native stone of a buff color. The roof is gabled. The main entry has a portico with a gabled roof. The sashed and encased windows have been altered; wood inserts and smaller energy efficient windows have been added. The alterations do not impeach the integrity of the building.
At a critical moment during the depression, construction of this school provided employment opportunities for destitute workers and infused wages of some 16,000 man-hours of labor into the local economy. It also created a new educational environment for students in this remote and rural area. Architecturally, it is unique in terms of its scale, materials, and quality of workmanship.[1]

Are there any better directions to this place? I’ve seen more recent pictures and it doesn’t appear to be in very good shape but I just can’t follow those directions! I don’t see any place on the map where you can go six miles east and then another two miles east. I feel like I’m missing something there. Just curious.

Unfortunately these are the only directions I have found for this structure and have not yet try myself to find it. However if you do finally get a photo of this structure it would be great to add to the page to verify the condition of it. I will look into the township and section maps to see if I can find the exact position.
