Description:

“In Oklahoma 326 conservation and flood control dams and hundreds of ponds were built with WPA dollars. Several dams in Oklahoma were built for the primary purpose of conserving water that could be used for multiple purposes. Lake Texoma and Grand Lake both became realities before the end of WPA.”

–Leaning on a Legacy

Although this was written into her book about the WPA, most of the research I have found about Lake Texoma was that it was constructed using German Prisoner of War people during the later part of WWII. The construction was supervised by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
